
Barbell Fitness specializes in one-on-one, evidence-based and goal-driven personal training programs for every skill level in an approachable community atmosphere. Our personal training sessions are for those seeking individualized attention helping clients achieve more specific fitness goals. Health coaching is often incorporated into each program to deliver facts about nutrition, how to fuel for performance, helpful nutrition habits, safe meal preparation, navigating the grocery store, and more. Yoga can be incorporated into each program for anyone from beginners to advanced yogis who want to drastically improve core strength and flexibility or develop a stronger understanding of their practice.
We offer a selection of customizable plans to remove barriers that might get in the way of your fitness goals. Exercises are presented at multiple levels which allows clients to work at their own pace. Whether you are looking to lose weight and keep it off, see more muscle definition, have more energy, fuel your workouts or sport, feel more confident, put an end to dieting or finally find the workouts that you look forward to doing each day, we have the program for you!
Our programs are tailored for everyone at any fitness level. We work with seniors, athletes, and children. We are committed to an adaptive and intuitive approach to training for people with mental, physical, and cognitive challenges such as Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, rare genetic conditions, and many more conditions. We also provide pre-natal and post-natal fitness programs to support women in every stage of motherhood and post-rehab fitness training as a "next step" for patients after physical therapy. All of our trainers track individual client progress by choosing the fitness assessments that are relevant to their goals. Assessments are key to designing a program tailored for you and revising your program when needed. Clients are then re-assessed 8-12 weeks from their initial assessment to measure their progress.
Barbell Fitness makes training programs accessible to as many people as possible. Our Story
Barbell Fitness was founded on August 22nd, 1990 where we began inside an independently owned gym in Waterbury, CT offering personal training to kids, seniors, and working people. Each program we designed was created to serve clients that demanded their training enhance their lifestyle and provide the tools needed to stay strong and fit at every stage in life.
We are now located in Middlebury, CT and have expanded to serving clients all over the world through our online training platform. Our trainers are experts with decades of experience at designing strength training and fitness programs. We are committed to continued education in order to stay up to date with the latest in exercise science and are dedicated to achieving your goals.
